About the Course

The Enactment of Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code in 2016 has renewed the law relating to corporate insolvency in India. The IBC is enacted with a special emphasize on revival of company in the form of corporate Insolvency resolution process. The Main aim of IBC is to maximize the realization of assets, which is tried to achieve through CIRP process which is creditor centric. The legislation has also fixed the timelines within which the CIRP process needs to completed. Failing which the company will be liquidated under the legislation. The course dwells upon the foundations of CIRP process and gives basic understanding of fundamentals of insolvency law and the Corporate Insolvency Resolution process to students.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will:

  • Understand the Law relating to Insolvency and the Concept of CIRP and the roles and responsibilities of various persons involved in that process.
  • Develop the knowledge needed to participate effectively in Committee of Creditors (CoC) deliberations, including the evaluation of resolution plans from a business and legal standpoint.
  • Build the analytical ability to assess and negotiate proposed resolution plans, keeping in mind commercial viability and creditor interests.
  • Draw practical lessons from real-world case studies of insolvency resolution and liquidation to identify common pitfalls and successful strategies.

Eligibility

Candidates who are pursuing graduation or had graduated are eligible to register.

Conduct of the Course

Live sessions will be conducted online by the academicians, professionals and industry experts during weekend. Soft copy of the reference materials will be provided to the candidates.

If the enrollments are more than 100, then the University may conduct the classes in different batches on different dates.

Mode of Assessment

Online Examination will be conducted only once at the end of the course. The assessment may include MCQ, short answer questions, case study, problem based questions etc.

Award of Certificate (only soft copy through email)

  • Course Completion Certificate: Candidates securing 50% or more in the Assessment Test will be awarded the ‘Course Completion Certificate’.
  • Certificate of Participation: All other enrolled candidates will be awarded ‘Certificate of Participation’.

Dr. A. Sridhar is an Assistant Professor at NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad. Before joining NALSAR, he practiced as a Company Secretary for a decade, handling various corporate law matters. He earned his LL.M. from NALSAR and his Ph.D. in Law from Osmania University on the topic “Competition Issues in Air Transportation Sector and Indian Aviation Policy: A Critical Analysis.”

He has edited two books — Corporate Laws: The Challenges of 21st Century and Recent Trends in Corporate Laws: Impact on Socio-Economic Development in India. He has published 12 articles and presented numerous papers at national and international seminars. Dr. Sridhar has also been a resource person for the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) and has delivered guest lectures on corporate laws and commercial drafting at institutions including MSME Facilitation Center, KL University, and Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad.

Prof. Sarma is a distinguished Professor of Law at NALSAR University and currently the Vice Chancellor of National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam. He has earlier served as Vice Chancellor of MNLU Aurangabad and Registrar at NALSAR. Recipient of the Telangana Government’s “Best Teacher Award” (2018) and several national recognitions, he has contributed extensively to legal education and policy.

His authored works include Modern Law of Insurance in India, Indian Penal Code, and Law of Contract Administration and Tenders. He has served on numerous government committees and is associated with UPSC, BCI, and academic advisory boards across India.

Dr. Bayola Kiran teaches commercial law and coordinates the LL.M. (Insolvency and Bankruptcy Law) program offered jointly by NALSAR and IICA. His Ph.D. research focused on Resolving Sport Disputes Through Judicial Intervention. A gold medallist from DSNLU, Visakhapatnam, he has also served as faculty at DSNLU and GITAM University. His interests include Sports Law, Jurisprudence, Corporate Law, and Constitutional Law.
