About the Course

This course is on AI and Law and students will be introduced to how AI is impacting Law and is being used in law by lawyers and courts. This course introduces students to different aspects and applications of AI in Law particularly regarding copyrights and patents. The state of legal tech and use of AI in judicial system in India is also part of the course. AI in smart contracts, block chain based legal applications are also taught. This course gives an excellent understanding of AI in/for law and gives students a realistic picture of AI in/for law in India.

Course Objectives

  • Introducing role of AI in Law to students and enable them to appreciate and understand it.
  • Familiarize students with trends in use of AI in law including in courts and legal practice in India.
  • Provide an introduction to basics of AI, data and algorithm as much as they relate to AI and Law.
  • Enable them to pursue further courses in AI and Law and kindle interest in AI and Law.

  • Understanding of role of AI in law.
  • Understanding AI in IP and Innovation.
  • Use of AI and LawTech in India including in practice, Courts and state of the art in India.
  • Understanding use of AI in different branches of law.
  • Exposure to selected AI tools in Law.

Eligibility

Candidates who are pursuing graduation or had graduated are eligible to register.

Admission Procedure

  • Submission of Online Application Form along with the required documents and the fee.
  • Direct admission subject to fulfilling the eligibility criteria.

Interested candidates may register for more than one course only when the dates of the sessions are not clashing.

Conduct of the Course

Live sessions will be conducted online by the academicians, professionals and industry experts during weekend. Soft copy of the reference materials will be provided to the candidates.

If the enrollments are more than 100, then the University may conduct the classes in different batches on different dates.

Mode of Assessment

Online Examination will be conducted only once at the end of the course. The assessment may include MCQ, short answer questions, case study, problem based questions etc.

Award of Certificate (only soft copy through email)

  • Course Completion Certificate: Candidates securing 50% or more in the Assessment Test will be awarded the ‘Course Completion Certificate’.
  • Certificate of Participation: All other enrolled candidates will be awarded ‘Certificate of Participation’.

Please note that certificates will be issued in soft copy format only and will be sent via email. Printed (hard) copies will not be provided.

Adjunct Professor, NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad

Dr. Krishna Ravi Srinivas is also Associate Faculty Fellow at the Centre for Responsible AI, IIT-Madras. At NALSAR, he serves as Director of the Centre for Law and AI and works on AI and Law, including an NPTEL course on AI, Law, and Justice. He has been a visiting scholar at the University of Pennsylvania (Fulbright Fellowship), Indiana University, and Post-Doc Fellow at South Centre, Geneva. He holds a PhD from National Law School, Bangalore, and specializes in regulation of emerging technologies.
